Thesis advice

Posted by Mark Aldrich on 17 November 2013

My thesis partner and I are conducting a workshop for non-custodial, low-income fathers, who do not live with their children, but have visitation rights. They have support systems already in place that help them deal with economic, emotional, and spiritual needs. They deal with frustrations associated with making child support payments, the bureaucracy of the court system, and sometimes conflicts with their spouses. Some have served prison time, but according to the terms of my being able to work with them, they cannot be on probation or parole. I need to find out if any applied theatre work has been done with similar populations. Though I'm not doing drama therapy, I also need to know if that has been done. My purpose for acquiring this information, is that I need to know how much of a "first" this will be. One of the top experts in the field, a Yale scholar. who has done studies of the organization I'll be working with that sponsors these men, says he knows of nothing that's been done that is similar, but encouraged me to keep looking, and has offered to meet with me
